  1.                 Thumbnail Images

  4. Pasokon TV can hold up to 10 images ready for immediate access.
  5. A miniture "thumbnail" version of each appears along the bottom
  6. of the screen.  If your computer does not have enough physical 
  7. memory (RAM) to hold all of them in memory, they are swapped
  8. out to disk and brought back in automatically as needed.
  9.  
  10. The number thumbnail images is set by the "Thumbnail Images"
  11. item on the Setup menu.  The setting is saved for the next 
  12. session with the "IMAGES" command in the PKTV.CFG configuration
  13. file.  This file is described in CONFIG.TXT.

  15. One of the thumbnail images is surrounded by a red rectangle.
  16. This is the image currently displayed in the main image window.
  17. There are three different ways to select a different image:
  18.  
  19. 1. With the mouse: click on a thumbnail image or click on
  20.    the left or right arrow to scroll through.
  21. 2. With the keyboard: use the left and right arrow keys.
  22. 3. During receive: Each new image automatically goes into
  23.    the next image memory which is not locked.

  26. Locking Images

  29. Below each thumbnail image is a small icon that indicates 
  30. whether the image is locked or unlocked.
  31.  
  32. Image locking only prevents receive from replacing it.  You
  33. can still read a file into this image or modify it.
  34.  
  35. For example, you might prepare an image for your next 
  36. transmission.  Click below the corresponding thumbnail image
  37. to get the icon with a closed lock.  This image will not
  38. be clobbered by received images.

  40. At least two images must be left unlocked for reception.

  43. Memory Requirements & Speed
  44. ---------------------------

  46. Pasokon TV version 2 used 320 x 240 images with about 32,000  
  47. colors.  Each image required roughly 150K of memory.
  48.  
  49. Pasokon TV version 3 uses much higher quality 640 x 480 
  50. resolution with more than 16,000,000 colors. Naturally, these
  51. higher quality images take more memory - almost a megabyte
  52. each.

  54. If you try to keep too many images for the amount of physical
  55. memory, the computer will spend a lot of time swapping images
  56. between disk and memory.  The system will be very slow.
  57.  
  58. Suggested number of images are:
  59.  
  60.         4 megabytes     - only 2 images.
  61.         8 megabytes     - 5 images.
  62.         16 megabytes    - all 10 images.
  63.  
  64. This number can be changed by picking "Thumbnail Images" from
  65. the Setup menu.  Then click on the desired number of images to
  66. keep in memory.
